Google Pack to include StarOffice 8
In a surprise move, Google quietly released StarOffice in its Google Pack of free downloadable programs. StarOffice is Sun Microsystems' commercial office suite. Picasa now available for Linux

Google to digitize UT Austin's library books
In mid-January, Google welcomes its latest library partner -- the University of Texas at Austin -- to the Google Books Library Project, beginning the process of digitizing more than 1 million books, including a world-renowned Latin American collection. More on the story here.
