New Zealand honors
Open Source with awards

By PENNY LEACH
OSR correspondent

On Oct. 17, New Zealand honors those who make positive contributions to Open Source by presenting the first New Zealand Open Source Awards.

The event, to be held in Wellington, is being spearheaded by Catalyst IT, New Zealand's largest open source provider, and the New Zealand Open Source Society.

Use of Open Source in New Zealand has been on the rise across the board, and the awards aim to acknowledge this by recognising both contributors and advocates for Open Source, as well as recognising organisations using Open Source.

Nominations are open until Aug. 17, in seven categories, and can be for organisations, projects or individuals. There will be one prize in each category.

For more information, or to make a nomination, see nzosa.org.nz
